Carefully Cultivated Fruiting Bodies
Our Lion’s Mane programme begins with carefully cultivated fruiting bodies of Hericium erinaceus grown under controlled environmental conditions. Only fully developed mushrooms with characteristic cascading spines are harvested, ensuring optimal concentrations of bioactive compounds including polysaccharides and hericenones. Unlike many commercial powders derived from mycelium grown on grain substrates, our extracts are produced from the fruiting body itself. This approach delivers a cleaner phytochemical profile and a higher concentration of naturally occurring compounds associated with cognitive wellness and neurological support.
Harvest & Controlled Drying
Lion’s Mane mushrooms are harvested at peak maturity when bioactive compound levels are highest. After harvest, fruiting bodies undergo gentle controlled drying to remove moisture while preserving delicate compounds responsible for the mushroom’s functional properties. Careful temperature management during drying prevents enzymatic degradation and ensures that the biomass entering extraction retains its potency and stability. This stage is critical to achieving consistent extract quality across production batches.
Extraction Process
Milling
Dried fruiting bodies are milled into coarse powder to increase extraction efficiency.
Hot Water Extraction
Extended hot water extraction isolates beta-glucans and other water-soluble polysaccharides.
Filtration & Concentration
The extract is clarified through multi-stage filtration and concentrated under controlled temperatures.
Spray Drying
The concentrated extract is spray-dried to produce a stable, free-flowing powder suitable for nutraceutical formulations.
Laboratory Validation
Each Lion’s Mane batch undergoes comprehensive analytical testing prior to release. Our laboratory evaluates polysaccharide content, beta-glucan levels, moisture, and extract ratios to ensure specification compliance and product consistency. Safety testing includes microbiological screening (Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mould, E. coli, Salmonella) and heavy metals analysis (Pb, As, Cd, Hg). Analytical methods follow validated protocols aligned with USP, AOAC, and ISO 17025 laboratory standards. Certificates of Analysis accompany every production batch.
